Downgrade Versions

Requirements

  • USB drive or SD card with at least 4GB of storage, depending on the Chromebook's board type.
  • Computer with access to installing extensions
    1. Instructions

      Identify board type
    2. Navigate to chrome://version.
    3. Find your board type under Platform.

    4. Navigate to chrome100.dev.
    5. Find and download the Chrome OS version you want to flash.
      Important: The recovery cannot flash versions unsupported by the kernel version of your Chromebook.
    6. On a separate computer, install the Chromebook Recovery Utility extension.
    7. Open the "Chromebook Recovery Utility" extension.
    8. In the extension popup, at the top right, select Use local image.
    9. Select the local recovery image.
    10. Insert the USB or SD card you want to flash.

      Important: Existing data will be erased from the USB or SD card when flashing with the utility.

    11. Follow the prompts in the recovery utility.
    12. On your Chromebook, press Esc + Refresh ↻, then press Power ⏻.
    13. Follow the prompts on the recovery screen.
    14. On the Checking for Updates screen, press and hold Ctrl + Shift, then press E, to skip it.
